Sunroom Raising

From my spot in the barn, I had a front row seat to watch them set the beams for the new sunroom.  While I did several zoom meetings the amazing guys moved around massive, heavy rough sawn hemlock beams!  Again, I envied their ability to accomplish something so tangible with their time!

When Greg talked to the guys the morning after they had done all this he was jokingly asking them if they had to use two hands to move the beams!  Charlie scavenged lots of nice wood scraps to build with, he has been squirreling pieces away throughout the project.

The room will be beautiful, with the exposed natural beams and white walls.  Two giant sliding doors and glass windows high up.  It should allow me to follow the sun all day, porch in the morning, sunroom in the afternoon!
Here was the view at lunch time yesterday from inside looking up!
We are excited to see what another week will bring, upstairs they are finished with roughing in the plumbing and electrical, which means insulation next.

They are about ready to rip out the old kitchen so I baked some Easter bread as my farewell to the old kitchen.  At the end of the week we will move a few appliances down to our basement temp kitchen. So now I'll be cooking from the dungeon, with no dishwasher, so I think we will have simple meals for the forseeable future!
