Katie "pays it forward" to her little brother

When we moved to Belgium the girls had to decide on who got the big bedroom. Kelly knew she would only be there for two years before college and that Katie was scheduled to be one more year.  (in the end we all ended up leaving together)  Kelly said Katie could have the giant bedroom.

Our amazing builders have been framing out the walls upstairs and in Katie's new bedroom she has two beautiful closets and an extra alcove area. (Here are the openings for her new closets)

As we looked at Katie's room with the extra alcove area Greg realized that the wall could be flipped and the alcove could instead be part of Charlie's new room.  Katie had looked at it independently and had already arrived at the same conclusion. She said it was only fair to give Charlie the alcove for his room as he will be using it much more than she will!    So the guys moved the wall for us.

This is the "alcove"-now flipped to be a part of Charlie's room.

Charlie and Greg are busy planning what to do with that spot instead, there is lots of talk of hidden doors, etc.  I will keep you posted on how it all turns out!

It is super exciting to walk around in the new upstairs and see the plans come to life!

This is the new hallway upstairs that goes from Master bedroom on to kids bedrooms.

In addition to framing walls in extreme cold and terrible windy days, they have also finished one full side of the roof and are almost done with the other side!
More equipment and supplies keep rolling in, note the row of equipment!  They are going to start peeling up the blacktop sidewalk and the ugly green patio near the barn-to prep for the porch and sunroom!

They spraypainted a line around the house to show where the porch, kitchen and sunroom will extend to...
This will be porch and new kitchen extension!

The tapered piers have arrived...

Next exciting delivery was the windows, they are all upstairs waiting to go in next week and the ones for the sunroom & kitchen are staged in the garage...

Master bedroom windows...

We have been busy deciding on kitchen cabinets and lots of other design choices, we are lucky to have the lumberyard down the street where we can see products and colors in person instead of trying to pick them out from websites!

Katie & Greg love the color decisions and go back and forth together all the time, it is pretty entertaining to listen to them!
