Greg was talking to our little neighbor who is about six, she was asking him why we put up a new chimney. He explained that it had to get the smoke through the new roof. She was not buying it, according to him she made it clear that she did not approve, and that they have a small chimney at her house and they "very much don't care". I can't stop laughing about it and wish I had been there for the conversation!
They ended the week with one quarter of the shingles done. Here is mid-day...
By the end of day...I actually took this Sat AM when the snow started (which quickly turned to rain)
The guys assured us that it was pretty buttoned up so we shouldn't get any water. Luckily they were right- it poured all day Saturday and we stayed dry and warm inside!
They also finished taking off the old cedar shakes on 3 sides of the house, they won't do the front part shown below as that will be extended about six feet for the new kitchen.
One thing that was pretty amazing was the original wood under the siding layers, it looks amazing..here is another shot of the barn side before they put on the house wrap...Will be interesting to see what this week holds, stay tuned...
