A longer chimney and some free gold for an eleven year old!

They have had a crew of masons extending the chimney up through the addition over the past two days.  At the end of the first day, here is how far they made it...

The regular crew has been busy stripping off the old white vinyl siding and the old green cedar shakes...so the lower part of the house keeps changing colors...
Katie was delighted that they took off the old front porch overhang and trellis, which she thought was extremly ugly-it used to be by the stone part you can still see on the front steps.

The chimney guys left a bunch of mixed mortor overnight and I saw it sitting out after they left.  I pointed it out to Charlie who is currently obsessed with finger skateboards and building ramps and jumps for them.  So he quickly scooped up some of that mortor and attempted to mold it into a ramp. One man's trash is anothers treasure!

By the end of the day today, they had bricked in the new section of chimney and finished taking the cedar shakes off the front of the house!

We are busy trying to pick a siding color from the new house, the guys at the lumber yard gave us the address of a  house nearby where they had just installed the same siding color we are considering.  The decision process is hard because we have to live with our choice and we want to pick something that will go well with all the houses around us in the neighborhood!
